Over the years I've been blogging there have been many fads that have come and go. Many ideas, apps, new methods of social media, and so on. One thing that has been constant for me has been Blogger.
Several years ago I thought I had to change. I thought to be taken seriously as a blogger I had to be on another platform.
That's not true.
I do not have to make a change that I do not really want to make-just to be seen as a legitimate blogger.
I've actually been made to feel like I should apologize for blogging where I do.
Not cool. No one should be made to feel inferior because of the blogging platform they choose.
I'm a Blogger blogger, and it works for me.
Here are a few reasons why I'm okay blogging with Blogger:
It's fairly straightforward. Blogger is pretty easy to navigate. There's not much you can not do on a Blogger blog.
My blog does not look unprofessional or less real Because I'm on Blogger.
Cost. Blogger is free.
I can do the same things with my site that people can do on other platforms.
I'm comfortable. Maybe that's not a good enough reason to stay put - but I'm comfortable with what's familiar. I know what I'm doing, and I'm happy where I am. Should not that be enough?
I can make money. The platform you use does not dictate the money you earn. Whether it's through sponsored posts, affiliate links, product reviews, or whatever method you choose to work on, you can earn money with your Blogger blog.
Lastly, I want to debunk a myth that's floating around about blogging on Blogger.
Google is not going to shut down my blog on a Whim.
Google, like other major companies, has terms of service. I signed off on them when I created my blog. And as long as I follow them and do not break the huge some rules? My content will stay just where it is. And it will Werner mine. This rumor alone is enough to make people jump on the bandwagon to switch.
Do your research before you make a change. You decide if it's the right thing for you? Go for it. I have nothing against any other platforms. I work with them for various sites - SITS included! - And I'm comfortable doing so. I just know that for me, for my site, I prefer to stay where I am, blogging with Blogger. I hope that this article shows you that if you do not feel like making a move, you do not have to. It's just a reminder that you can do whatever you want with your blog as long as you dedicate some time and effort, and yes, possibly put some money, into it.
Whatever platform you're on - or whichever you choose in the future - be sure to be true to you when you write your content. Engage with and support of other bloggers. Doing so will bring your readers back again and again, Regardless of what's going on behind-the-scenes.
