"The Ballad Diamond"
Many a man has heard the ringing,
of the beggar's voice whom was always singing.
In the light of day and in the dark of night, he would regale his tale with melodious delight.
He would sing in the tunnel on the way to the pier, or in the park up above so that everyone could hear.
His eyes were bright his smile was contagious, his happy demeanor to some was outrageous
Though it seemed paradoxical to be ragged but rich, the beggar was faithful in reminding us this
Life is too short and we have little control, of the entrance of circumstance that would upset our role.
Life is a choice it is what we make it, do not let circumstance be the excuse that takes it.
Day by day in rain, sun, and snow, the beggar sang out both loud and low
On sunny days it was cereal and on dreary days uplifting, his song became comfort to those who were listening.
One day in the winter he was found in the snow, wounded by a victim of circumstances blow
He smiled and sang as his last breath expended, this is how he wanted his life to have ended
Though he had not a home or a dime to his name, he had won the hearts of the city who listened as he sang.
His memorial was great and all the people did sing, to remember the lesson that this man did bring.
And if you listen really well in the tunnel by the pier, the song of the beggar you can still hear.
So live for today and know life is valid, and when times become tough sing the Beggar's Ballad.
